With 125 acres of land and 2.5 miles of walking trails, visitors to the Phoenix Zoo know they are in for a wonderfully exciting experience. The Zoo has been divided into four different trails; usually the Africa and Tropics Trails take about an hour each to explore and the Arizona and Children’s Trails take about a half hour each.

The Phoenix Zoo is home to over 1,200 animals representing more than 200 species. The animals hail from diverse regions, from the Arizona desert to the lush tropics of Colombia and Indonesia. There is also a sanctuary for animals that need the zoo’s help because they have no other place to live. The animals you'll see in Sanctuary include White Rhinos, Asian Elephants, Mexican gray wolf, Cheetahs, Arabian oryx, and a host of other animals.
