On April 4, 1976, the New York Cosmos (with Pelé) and the Los Angeles Aztecs played an exhibition soccer game in front of 15,000 fans in the stadium.

Every year, Sun Devil Stadium hosts the Insight Bowl. The sixth ranked teams from the Big 12 and Big Ten Conferences face-off with hard-hitting on-field action and rambunctious fans in attendance to support their teams.
